Privacy policy

Quick answer

We keep the minimum. Our own visit statistics record the page, the referring website's domain, your device type and, if our server provides it, your country, but never your IP address, and we use no tracking cookies for them. If you use the contact form we keep your name, email and message so we can reply. Advertising cookies are used only where ads run and, in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, only with your consent.

Who is responsible

This site is run by the StateCover Guide editorial team. To ask about your data, use the contact page and choose "Privacy request".

What we record when you visit

To understand which pages help people, our server records each page view: the time, the page address, the domain of the site that linked to us (for example, a search engine), whether you used a phone, tablet or computer, whether the visit came from a known search engine or AI crawler, and your country when our hosting provides it. We do not store your IP address or your full browser details.

To count how many different people visit each day, we combine your connection details with a random value that changes every day, keep only a short scrambled code and throw the random value away the next day. That code cannot be turned back into your IP address and cannot link your visits across days.

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security and to keep the site running, under its own policies.

Contact form

If you send us a message we store your name, email address, topic and message so we can reply. We do not add you to mailing lists, and we delete messages after 12 months, or sooner if you ask.

Cookies and advertising

We set no cookies of our own for visitors. Your consent choice is kept only in your browser's local storage. When advertising is switched on, our ad provider (Google) may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked first, and ad cookies are only used if they accept. See the cookie policy for details and how to change your choice.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it, through the contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR in Europe or state privacy laws in the US; we will honour valid requests. You can reject advertising cookies at any time.

Children

This site is written for adults buying car insurance. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
